Q1: Chief of Staff roles sit right at the intersection of strategy and execution. Looking at ScreenCloud today, where do you see the biggest opportunity for the company over the next year?
Honestly, our biggest opportunity isn’t a single new thing, it’s focus. The companies that win get clear on the few bets that matter most and commit, rather than chasing everything at once. For us, those bets have a name: the five Value Creation Plans, our strategic priorities, that Cédric (our CEO) sets out at every All Hands. Getting genuinely sharp on those is the opportunity, but the thing I’d never want to get lost is that our people are the heart of delivering them. None of it happens on a slide; it happens because the team makes it happen. Keep people at the centre, stay focused, and the year ahead looks genuinely exciting - most of my job is simply helping us not get in our own way.

Q2: So much of your work is helping teams stay aligned as the business scales. How do you balance moving quickly with making sure people stay connected and focused?
For me, it comes down to messaging discipline. We have a north star and a clear plan to get there - our VCPs! See, I’m a broken record(!) and my job is keeping that story consistent as it travels. It starts with the exec team speaking the same language, then cascades to wider leadership, then to the whole company at All Hands, so by the time it reaches everyone it’s one message, not five versions of it. Get that right and people can move quickly without waiting to be told, because they understand the why. “Connected” isn’t about everyone being in every meeting; it’s everyone working from the same picture.

Q3: For someone joining ScreenCloud tomorrow, what’s one thing about the culture or way of working they’d only really discover after being here a while?
We’ve got a genuinely creative builder culture. People here want ScreenCloud to be bigger and better - they can see where the puck is going - and they keep finding clever ways to get us there. With a new product launching later this year, AI changing what’s possible, and the growth that comes with being PE-backed, there’s so much to build. What surprises people is that all that ambition sits right alongside genuinely great vibes. This is a team that pushes hard and has a serious amount of fun doing it. You don’t often get both, and I wouldn’t trade it.

Q4: Outside of work, what’s something you could happily talk about for hours with almost no preparation?
Planes. Anyone who’s met me for five minutes knows I used to work in corporate at British Airways — which mostly meant seeing the world from seat 1A, usually with a glass of bubbles in hand. These days I’m working towards my private pilot’s licence, flying a little Piper Warrior at weekends. There’s nothing better than driving to the airfield on a sunny Saturday, roof down and music up, then being in the air for a couple of hours. The physics behind flying blows my mind, the aviation community is the most wonderfully nerdy bunch you’ll ever meet, and travel gives you something nothing else can.

Q5: What’s a small thing that always makes your day better?
Watching someone do something they didn’t think they could - nailing their first big presentation after hours of prep, or cracking a problem they’d written off as too hard. Or a newly formed team starting to click and genuinely enjoy working together. That moment the penny drops and they realise they’re capable of more than they thought never gets old. I also coach and mentor outside work, often women early in their careers, and seeing them back themselves and go further than they thought they could is hard to beat.

Q6: If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Languages, hands down. I’m floored by the people around the business who speak several - when someone can influence and persuade in a language that isn’t their mother tongue, I’m in awe. I can stumble my way through a bit of French and Spanish, and I even gave Mandarin a crack at university (ironically, I got better marks in that than in my far duller accounting modules). But to be effortlessly fluent in all of them? That’s the dream. I’m a change specialist, and communication sits at the heart of every change - so being able to truly connect with anyone, anywhere, in their own language would be a real superpower.

New feature: Recognition where it resonates most

Ask any internal comms professional, and they'll tell you the same thing: recognition programs live or die by visibility. An award posted in an intranet feed reaches the people already logged in. For the rest of your workforce, it might as well not exist.

The new Recognition Posts feature pulls directly from Simpplr's recognition feed and surfaces shoutouts and awards automatically to your screens. That means the warehouse worker who went above and beyond on a Friday afternoon sees their name on the screen Monday morning.

You can also filter recognition posts by department, which means a regional distribution center can celebrate its own team's wins and a retail location can spotlight its own staff without getting lost among company-wide announcements.

Feature posts customization: A Featured Posts toggle lets you filter displays to show only content marked as featured in Simpplr, ideal for lobby screens or announcement boards where every pixel of attention matters.

New post summary: Screen content can now be written for screens: short, scannable, and clear at a glance, rather than pulling from a full article body.

Less technical setup: Previously, configuring the integration required knowing exactly which portion of a URL to use. Now, paste in the full token URL, and the app handles the rest. 

Recognition is the headline, but the integration covers the full breadth of your Simpplr content. The ScreenCloud Simpplr integration connects directly to your account and puts your intranet content on any screen without the need to rebrand, reformat, or duplicate work. Here's what you can display:

Simpplr content: Surface news posts, knowledge articles, events, or albums directly on screen, keeping your entire workforce informed without requiring them to log in.

On-brand by default: Screen content is automatically styled with custom style packs along with your company's branding and logo so everything that appears on your displays looks like it belongs there.

QR codes: Every piece of content can include a QR code linking directly back to the original Simpplr post. Someone walks past a screen, scans the code, and lands straight on the recognition post, event registration, or policy update. No searching required.

Simpplr posts can now display a summary of the post as opposed to pulling from the full article body, making it easier to understand posts at a quick glance. You can set a custom summary directly within your Simpplr account, and if no summary is set, your posts will fall back to the body text as before. A small change with a big impact on readability.

A new Featured Posts toggle lets you filter your content stream to show only posts that have been marked as Featured within Simpplr.

This is ideal for announcement screens, lobby displays, or anywhere you want editorial control over exactly what appears. Site managers can mark any post as featured directly in Simpplr, giving your comms team a simple way to curate what shows up on your screens.

Setting up your Simpplr integration just got a lot smoother. Previously, figuring out exactly which portion of a URL to use during setup was a common friction point that slowed teams down before they'd even displayed a single piece of content.

Head to Screens in the left-hand sidebar and open the screen you want to score. 
You'll see a live preview of what's currently playing.

If you are using Screen Score for the first time, select the "Let's try now button" when prompted.

A purple record button will appear, saying, "Click to capture the moment and score.”

A window will open showing your content with a "Preparing your score" message. The AI takes just a few seconds to analyze the screenshot.

If you think your score is inaccurate, you can add your communication goal in the text box to unlock Fit for Purpose scoring.

Work through the recommendations and select the score again to track improvement.

You can access your collection of scores using the Screen Scores button and thumbnails, which remains available under your screen preview so you can compare results at any time.

Screen Score is built for everyone involved in workplace communication.

This month we’re kicking things off with Robert Mata (Rob).

Q: How do you approach telling a product story like ScreenCloud's in a crowded SaaS market?
A: It always starts with the customer. What do they need to succeed — not just professionally, but as a team? What makes their day harder than it needs to be, and how does what we provide make it easier? The product story, the way we communicate it, the way we show up as a partner — all of it has to ladder back to that. In a crowded market, the brands that win are the ones that make the customer feel genuinely understood. That's the standard I hold us to.

Q: What drew you to ScreenCloud specifically?
A: Honestly? The people first. The team here has built something remarkable. But beyond that, the timing felt important. The shift to distributed work, the rise of frontline worker engagement as a board-level priority, the explosion of communication channels—all of that has created a real and urgent category need. ScreenCloud sits right at the centre of it: helping organisations bring genuine connectivity and humanity back to the business, for every worker, not just the ones at a desk. That felt like a meaningful opportunity to be part of.

Q: What would success look like for ScreenCloud's marketing team 12 months from now?
A: Three things. First — we're having fun. Marketing is creative and collaborative by nature, and a team that enjoys what they do produces better work. Full stop. Second — we're deeply, obsessively customer-focused. We understand our customers well enough to improve not just how they buy, but how they experience ScreenCloud more broadly. And third — we've become a team that people inside and outside the business genuinely want to work with. A team that brings people along on the journey, and makes them feel like they have a real partner in ScreenCloud.

A: Dinner with your 22-year-old self or your 75-year-old self — and why?
B: Twenty-two, without hesitation. Not to change anything — I wouldn't. But I'd want to sit across the table and say: keep pushing. Keep saying yes. Lean hard into the mentors who show up for you, and never underestimate what the relationships you're building right now will mean to you later. The professional growth matters, but the personal growth matters more. I think I'd want that version of me to hear it earlier.

A: If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
B: Teleportation — and I know it's not the most original answer. But I love to travel. New places, new people, new perspectives on this extraordinary planet we all share. If I could experience any of that, anywhere, whenever I wanted—without the airports—I'd be a very happy person. There's something about standing somewhere completely new that shifts how you think. I'd want more of that, always.

This month we’re kicking things off with Jonny Price.

How do you see AI shaping the future of software testing?
I actually see software testing becoming more and more paramount as AI progresses. We’re moving into a phase where so much code is being outsourced to AI, and that naturally increases the chance of bugs and hidden risks. AI is great at generating volume, but it can struggle with context, which leads to instability. We’re already seeing the impact of this—while "five nines" (99.999% uptime) is the gold standard, some major vendors are struggling to maintain even 90% lately. Even a giant like GitHub saw significant uptime dips in late 2025 as the volume of code started to outpace the infrastructure.

That said, AI has been a huge positive for us when used correctly. Our team built a great reporting tool for all our automation, and AI really helped us win a software testing award for Most Innovative Project last year—something we wouldn't have been able to pull together so quickly otherwise.

The role of a tester has changed so much from heavy manual work to being able to automate much faster. So, while developers are shipping code quicker, we’re keeping up by testing more effectively and efficiently. But you still have to keep a close eye on it. You have to make sure tests don’t just "pass" for the sake of it; it’s important to be able to stand over your work, understand exactly what the tests are executing, and ensure that AI assistance doesn't replace human accountability.


Are there any specific books, podcasts, or resources you rely on to keep sharpening your skills?

I stay sharp by keeping a pretty consistent rotation of resources. For my day-to-day work, I really value the Test Guild Automation Podcast with Joe Colantonio; it’s my main way of staying up to date with testing and the community. Beyond that, I really recommend The Blindboy Podcast. It’s essentially a masterclass in storytelling—he weaves together history, psychology, and mental health in a way that’s really meditative. It’s a great "brain reset" that offers a completely different perspective outside of the tech bubble. When it comes to new tech, I use AI as a partner to stay curious. I’ll ask it for information or have it search the internet for useful resources and articles on whatever topic I’m digging into. I also rely a lot on community—I’m in a WhatsApp group where we’re always sharing latest news, and the AI channels in the company Slack are a great source for seeing varying content and keeping up with how fast everything is changing.


How do you maintain focus and balance between work and personal time?

For me, focus is all about routine. I log in by 8:30 AM in my dedicated home office, but when the workday ends, my focus shifts entirely to my kids. They keep me on my toes, and I make it a point to keep the phones away. I love working in tech, but I’m a big believer in minimal screen time for my children, so switching off the devices helps me stay present for the things that matter most.


What’s your all-time favorite movie?
That is a really tough one so I’m going to say two Spirited Away and Lord Of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring


If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
I’d choose teleportation. But I’d need to be able to take other people with me, not just myself!

Meet the Makers: Jonny Price on AI, Testing, and Knowing When to Switch Off

Digital signage has moved far beyond the simple act of putting a television on a wall. In the current business landscape, visual communication functions as the central nervous system for corporate offices, manufacturing floors, and retail environments. 

As we move through 2026, one operating system has emerged as the clear leader for these deployments: Android.

The global digital signage market reached a value of 28.83 billion dollars in 2024 and is projected to expand to 45.94 billion dollars by 2030. This growth, representing a compound annual growth rate of 8.1 percent, is being fueled by a massive shift in how hardware is designed and deployed. Why is Android digital signage the most popular OS?

For a long time, the standard for digital signage players has been either a Windows based media player tucked behind a screen, or an Amazon Fire TV Stick which is based on Anrdoid. Both of these have been mainstays for the industry for many years, although Amazon have pivoted away from the Fire Stick towards their made for purpose Signage Stick. 

Android digital signage has become the dominant option in the market today for several reasons, including:

The improvements in System on Chip (SoC) TVs

SoC technology integrates the processor, memory, and graphics hardware directly into the screen display itself. This eliminates the need for an external media player and the associated cables. 

Beyond the aesthetic benefits, the move to Android based SoC is driven by energy efficiency. Industry data suggests that a 50 inch SoC display running 24/7 consumes approximately 120 kWh per month. 

In contrast, an on-premise server setup or a high power PC can consume between 500 and 1500 watts per hour.

Information Technology teams are increasingly resistant to the Windows Tax. This term refers to the cumulative cost of Windows licenses and the labor required to manage security patches and OS updates across a fleet of screens. 

Android 14 and subsequent versions provide a leaner, more secure environment that is purpose built for single application use cases like digital signage.

The rise in affordable Android based media players

The Android ecosystem supports a wide range of devices, from budget dongles to premium devices.

The Amazon Fire TV Stick and Google Chromecast were instrumental in making digital signage accessible to small businesses with their low price point and easy access. And while the industry has moved on from these devices, the easy functionality of these Android players has led to more manufacturers offering similar user-friendly devices such as these.

Commercial vs consumer Android: Which is best for you?
