A quick, easy way to get your messages on screen.
Within the ScreenCloud App Store we offer an easy way to get text, notices, messages and quotes on your digital screens. It’s called the Noticeboard app.
The Noticeboard app is the easiest way to get your messages up onto your screens. The Noticeboard app allows you to create a cool noticeboard using one of our theme options, or by creating your own. In this guide we’ll walk you through how to create a custom digital noticeboard using the tools available.
With the Noticeboard app you can create any notice or sign you like! Features include:
Here’s how to use it:
Head to the ScreenCloud App Store and select Noticeboard (or follow this link). Select ‘Install this app’ in the bottom right hand corner. This will log you in to your ScreenCloud account, or prompt you to setup our free trial in order to use Noticeboard and the other apps within our App Store.
Once logged in select ‘Add this app’ from the top right hand corner.
In Noticeboard you have two options: use a preset theme or create a noticeboard from scratch using the custom theme. To choose from Preset or Custom, use the 'Type' dropdown on the main screen.
Add message
Use the ‘add message’ box to write in any text of your choosing. This may include instructions, a quote or a sign post.
Theme
This is where you can choose how you want your noticeboard to look.
Within our preset themes, first you have the Chalkboard theme which creates an authentic chalkboard effect with text displayed over a chalkboard:
Lightbox provides you with a white background, with black separating lines just like in a real lightbox! The text you add fills each line of the lightbox effect.
The theme Cowboy provides an authentic ranch-style background, with a text overlay.
Neon gives your text a glow!
Text align
Just as it says - move your text to the left, right or center.
If you want to create your own noticeboard design or upload an image to use as a background, ensure you select 'custom' from the Type dropdown. When you select custom you will see more options available.
These are:
Message
Enter a message of your choice.
Text color
Choose your text color or enter a hex code.
Background
Choose your background color or enter a hex code.
Font
Select your font.
Text align
Move your text to the left, right or center.
Upload image
This allows you to add an image to your sign, as a background or to fill one side of your notice.
Image layout
This allows you to select where to place your image and how it looks with the other elements on the page.
Center text - this places your text in the centre of the image and gives it a background, with the color you have chosen using the ‘background’ setting.
Center text no background - this centers your text but removes the background, so that the text is placed directly over the image.
Image then text - This places your image on the left hand side and your text on the right hand side, creating a split screen. If you are using portrait mode, this will place the image at the top, then the text at the bottom.
Text then image - This places your text on the left hand side and your image on the right hand side, creating a split screen. If you are using portrait mode, this will place the text at the top, then the image at the bottom.
Image size
This is only applicable if you are using a specific image layout. If you have chosen ‘image then text’ in the image layout, or ‘text then image’ this will split your screen into two halves. In either, if you choose ‘fit’ your image will stretch to fill the entire background of the image half. If you choose ‘contain’, you will see a border around your image within that half of the screen.

Once you have created your Noticeboard you have the opportunity to preview before it gets added to a playlist. This allows you to check that you’re happy with what the content looks like, the text positioning, colors and so on.
Click ‘Preview App’ and a small popup will display your noticeboard creation.
Once you’re happy with your Noticeboard, select ‘Add App’ and give it a name. This will help you to spot it later and tell it apart from other noticeboards.
Next, go to ‘Playlists’ and drag and drop your Noticeboard from the app selection bar on the right-hand side to the playlist of your choosing.
Once it has been added to your playlist you can change the time duration and move its positioning using the same drag and drop motion.
My preview Noticeboard isn’t working - what do I do?
Sometimes it may take a few seconds for the ‘preview app’ feature to work, as it picks up your custom features and images. Please leave the preview open for 30 seconds. If it still doesn’t appear, close the preview and re-open it.
Can I use Noticeboard as part of a zoned digital signage display?
Yes, when setting up a zoned display you will see the option to ‘Add App’. Any Noticeboards you have setup will be found in this list.
Can I use Noticeboard in portrait mode?
Yes, just ensure you choose portrait mode before creating your noticeboard to ensure that the text is the correct way around.
Can I separate the lines of text?
At current, you cannot add indents or lines between the text.
How long is the Noticeboard app shown for?
Noticeboard is a static display, therefore it is shown for the time duration that you set within your playlist. This can be edited at any time by selecting the appropriate playlist from the ‘Playlists’ sidebar and changing the time duration next to the Noticeboard of your choice.
